Nationwide Denied-Entry Food and Cosmetics Products Information June 2021

On July 16th, The General Administration of Customs issued the “Nationwide Denied-Entry Food and Cosmetics Products Information for June 2021”. According to the statistics, as of June 2021, a total of 253 batches of unqualified products were detected at the port inspection around the nation; out of the all unqualified batches, 249 of them were unqualified food products and 4 were unqualified cosmetics products. Unauthorized products were denied for entry at the port and have been either returned or destroyed according to the law.

In June 2021, there were a total of 249 batched of food products that were denied for entry at the port, the main violations of these unauthorized products are as follow:

Fail to provide required certificates or qualified certification materials; fail to obtain inspection and quarantine access; unqualified food labels; problems with the use of food additives; inconsistencies in products & certificates; microbial contaminations; and detection of animal diseases. In addition, some food products were found to have added nutrition fortifier exceeding the limited amount, passed shelf life, contain ingredients that have not been certified to enter the country, detection of non-edible additives, unlabeled genetically modified ingredients, excessive pesticide residues, pollution, and other problems.

From the published list, there were 11 companies from the United States whose products were denied for entry at the port, some of the unqualified products were frozen chicken feet, frozen beef, dried pecans,DHA algae oil,complex vitamin supplemental pills,etc. And some of the main reasons for their un-qualification include wrong food labels, moldy products, products passed shelf life date and inconsistencies in products & certification.
