The General Administration of Customs issued the “National Rejected Imported Foods and Cosmetics in December 2020”.  According to the statistics for December 2020, the national customs found unqualified safety and hygiene items from foods and cosmetics during the port supervision process.  A total of 159 batches were refused for entry, of which 144 batches were foods, 15 batches were cosmetics.  The above mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at the ports.

The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations.  The reasons of rejection were related to unqualified labels, problems with the use of food additives, problems with the use of nutritional supplements, expiration date, containing ingredients without quarantine approvals, detection of animal diseases, detection of undeclared genetically modified ingredients, bottle cork mildew, microbial contamination, without required certificates or qualified documents, failure to obtain inspections and quarantine approvals, etc. 

There were 4 ejected foods from the U.S. and 3 from Canada:

15 batches of unqualified cosmetics were rejected to be imported.  The reasons of rejection were unqualified labels, without required certificates or qualified documents, and excessive Methylisothiazolinone.
